Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are very happy to welcome you to the 10th Congress of the European Federation of Sexology to be held in Porto in 2010.
In 2010 the Portuguese Society of Clinical Sexology celebrates its 25th anniversary and is fully committed to organize a world class scientific meeting under the Topic: “Sexology, Past, Present & Future: Celebrating a Century of the Multidisciplinary Science of Sex”.
A century has passed since Iwan Bloch first used the term sexology as the multidisciplinary science of sex, but never before has this issue been as crucial as it is today. In the threshold of the 2nd millennium several key sexologists have written and discussed about the crossway of the sexual science, having identified problems and limitations, but also strengths and opportunities for the years to come.

The last few years have observed an exponential increase of research on the field of sexology and sexual medicine, which has caused extraordinary advances on treatment for sexual problems. Concurrently, basic research on neurophysiology of sexual response and on psychophysiological studies has become increasingly sophisticated. Finally, the debate on sexual rights as human rights and the promotion of sexual health and sexual wellbeing has came to light with the publication of Sexual Health for the Millennium (WAS, 2008).
We address a special invitation to the members of the affiliated societies of the European Federation of Sexology to come to the Porto Congress to share science and friendship. We would also like to have among us in the 10th EFS Congress those interested in sexology and sexual health from Europe and other world regions.
This is a moment to celebrate history looking to the future of Sexology.
Known world wide because of its unique wine, Porto is one of the most ancient and charming European cities. Classified as World Heritage by UNESCO in 1996, Porto is the ideal place to celebrate together.

We welcome you to Porto in May 2010.
